On December 6th, under the theme "Passing on the Torch, Setting Sail," the SG20 organization's leadership summit for the canned food industry was successfully held during the inaugural China (Qijiang) Food Industry High-Quality Development Conference and Jie Street Gourmet Music Festival. Representatives from the second generation of leaders from 20 companies, including Joycome Food Group Co., Ltd., Hunan Guoxiu Food Co., Ltd., Chongqing Dejia Meat Technology Development Co., Ltd., Sichuan Meining Food Co., Ltd., Ningbo Jiabike Food Co., Ltd., Taizhou Tongyi Machinery Equipment Co., Ltd., and Shenzhen Youpeng Packaging Products Co., Ltd., attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Liu Youqian, Chairman of the China Canned Food Industry Association, with Vice Chairman Chen Junxing in attendance. During the meeting, all attending representatives unanimously agreed to officially establish the SG20 organization for the Chinese canned food industry.
SG20 stands for "Second Generation 20," representing the second generation of leaders from 20 companies in the canned food industry. This new organization is a natural outcome of the industry's development to date. Chairman Liu Youqian first introduced the background of the SG20 organization's establishment. He pointed out that many companies in the industry are facing the challenge of transitioning leadership from the old to the new generation. The emerging generation of business leaders, representing the future of the canned food industry, is rapidly growing and it's crucial for them to unite and collectively promote the development of the industry. Moreover, innovation is a long-term and significant task for the canned food industry. For the first generation ("can one"), the task may seem too daunting, hence it's essential for the new, broad-minded, and innovative second generation ("can two") to take up the mantle of innovation.
Vice Chairman Chen Junxing, an exemplary leader from the first generation, continued the discussion on innovation initiated by Chairman Liu, sharing his views with the second-generation attendees. He advised the next generation to maintain integrity while innovating, specifically through various forms of innovation in products, markets, services, and business models. Conclusively, he expressed relief, stating that his previous concerns about the decline of the canned food industry had been completely alleviated upon seeing the new generation of leaders. He hoped that these young entrepreneurs could use their imagination and talent to ensure a long and prosperous future for the canned food industry.
Subsequently, the representatives engaged in a spirited discussion on the purpose, operational mechanisms, main tasks, implementation strategies, and funding of the SG20 organization. Overall, there was unanimous agreement that the SG20 organization is a voluntary, informal group aimed at providing a platform for second-generation leaders of canned food enterprises. Its purpose is to discuss and coordinate key issues in China's canned food industry, foster cooperation and dialogue among members, and achieve sustainable development and mutual prosperity for Chinese canned enterprises. The goal is to enhance the overall management skills of the second-generation leaders, strengthen economic cooperation, and address industry-wide issues, ultimately promoting reform, innovation, and high-quality development in China's canned food industry.
